Arts Express runs an extensive programme of events and projects in the community that are
designed to bring the community together in a shared activity, provide an opportunity for people
to express themselves creatively and leave with a sense of pride and achievement at having gone
beyond their technical, creative or perceived limits.
PUBLIC EVENTS
The following is a list of up-coming public events where Arts Express will be running workshops:
Carve in the Community 2011
For the fourteenth year running, Peckham Town Square plays host to London’s only
carving festival – the highly popular Carve in the Community.
20th - 28th August, from 11.00am – 1pm & 2pm – 5.30pm daily.
Peckham Square will be transformed into a hub of artistic activity, when stone and carving tools
will be provided FREE to anyone and everyone wishing to try their hand at stone carving. This is an
opportunity for the people from the community of Peckham and further afield to come together and learn new skills, and for carvers everywhere to celebrate the discipline.
There is no need to book - just turn up and stay for as long as you like.
For the final afternoon of the event, participants get to enter their sculptures into
a competition, with the prize winners being selected by a jury of the viewing public.
There is no upper age limit to participate. Minimum age to participate is 7 years.
Where: Peckham Square (covered), Peckham High Street, London SE15, near The Pulse Leisure Centre
and Peckham Library.

It is funded by the Southwark Council and Ernest Cook Trust.
Arts Express runs evening classes and Saturday workshops from its studio in
Iliffe Yard, Kennington.
Please note the minimum age for evening classes and Saturday workshops is 16.
